Super Summer Saturdays

Super Summer Saturdays run from July 3- July 31, 2010. All programs are free for children under 18 and adults pay museum admission ($2.50 general/ $1.50 seniors). An arts and crafts project accompanies each of the programs.

 

July 3: Sensational Snakes

Live snakes will be on hand with For Goodness Snakes Adventures. Come and learn about the natural history of these slithery creatures up close and personal! Two shows- 10:30 am and 12:00 pm

July 10: Beautiful Bats

This program features live bats with the California Bat Conservation Fund. Come see several of these shy and elusive creatures up close and personal! Learn surprising facts and dispel common misconceptions about our nocturnal friends. So bring a friend and come explore the exciting world of bats! Drop-In between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm

July 17: The Water Beat with ZunZun

A lively, interactive performance by Santa Cruz's own performing arts group ZunZun focusing on water conservation and watershed issues.  With over 20 musical instruments from North, Central, and South America, ZunZun will entertain and educate the audience about important water issues in an engaging and humorous performance that all ages will love. Two shows- 10:30 am and 12:00 pm.

July 24: Celebrate Urban Birds with the Banana Slug String Band

Join us for a variety of activities to celebrate urban birds. Our Celebrate Urban Birds Day begins with a hummingbird garden planting in our Garden Learning Center, followed by a performance by the Banana Slug String Band. The Slugs will entertain and educate the audience with songs celebrating the habitats of birds and other animals alike. Hummingbird planting - 9:00am to 10:30am. Two shows- 10:30 am and 12:00 pm.

July 31: California Wild with Wildlife Associates

Stretching from the mighty Sierra Nevada through the farmlands of the Central Valley to the stunning coastal regions, California is one of the most environmentally diverse areas in the nation. Meet a live porcupine, red fox, great horned owl, opossum, and red- tailed hawk. Learn about these intriguing animals and gain insights into the secret lives of the intelligent and ecologically important animals that live around us. Two shows- 10:30 am and 12:00 pm.
