Winter Birding in Central CA

Lecture and field trip with Clay Kempf

mallards in flight

The mild winters of Central California are an attractive haven for a rich diversity of birds and wildlife. Winter populations are increased with the influx of birds seeking refuge from the snowstorms of their northern nesting grounds. Our two day outing will venture to the dryer climes of Tres Piños Canyon and Panoche Valley in search of grassland species. On Sunday, the interior wetlands of areas such as the Merced National Wildlife Refuge will be our destination.
